What Does it Mean to Be a Riparian Institute Volunteer?
Riparian Institute Volunteers are expected to participate in a 3 part training program and commit to giving 10 hours a month to the Institute through a variety of support roles.

Volunteer Roles - Each volunteer will select the roles(s) for which they are best suited in their work at the Preserve:

Stewards – help care for the preserve and its inhabitants
Monitor trails and activity
Docents – Lead public tours
Help with Educational programs
Community Relations – Help with public events and programs. Merchandise sales and Information tables.

Training

Part 1 – Orientation: Offered once every 2 months on a Saturday morning, this class will give you the basics about the preserve and its programs.
Part 2 – Mentoring: You will be paired with a current volunteer who shares your interests. You will be asked to spend at least 3-4 hours working with your mentor.
Part 3 – Ongoing Education: At our monthly volunteer meetings, 45 minute programs will be presented as continuing education for our volunteers. All volunteers are encouraged to take advantage of these fantastic learning opportunities.
